You fund the work. Now amplify the impact.
Many organizational leaders were never taught how to manage the money behind the mission. Master Your Nonprofit Numbers closes the gap, giving you tangible results you can use to demonstrate your foundation’s impact to your board and your peer funders.
What happened when one foundation got proactive about its grantees’ financial capacity
Across a grantee portfolio, the same opportunity keeps surfacing. Leaders who are brilliant at the mission and ready to be just as strong with the money behind it. Boards that want to engage with the financials and need a clearer way in. Grant reports that get sharper the moment someone has the training to produce them with confidence. The capability is already there. What most nonprofit leaders were never offered is the training to match it.
The John R. Oishei Foundation decided to invest in exactly that. Rather than fund another one-off workshop, they funded a full cohort of their grantees through Master Your Nonprofit Numbers. The foundation identified the grantees who would benefit most and provided the funding. Prosper handled everything else: the curriculum, the platform, the facilitation, and the ongoing support.
The cohort worked, and the foundation came back to fund it again. To date, the Oishei Foundation has funded Master Your Nonprofit Numbers® four times and sent more than one hundred local nonprofit organizations through the program. The results made the case. Across the cohorts, board conversations grew more strategic, grant reports got sharper, and leaders walked into funder meetings ready to talk about their own numbers with confidence.
“I think Master Your Nonprofit Numbers® has done an amazing job in stepping into a space that’s had a void for so long. It’s either been a CPA with overly technical jargon, or you simply have a bookkeeper. Both important, but Stephanie’s been able to provide a balance. If it means that we’ve kept one more nonprofit in the fight, helping them lift and serve our communities, then I think we’ve done our job.”

THE SUPPORTING STORY
Upward Design for Life
When Dionne started her organization, the numbers were what she most wanted to get right: how to manage the books and keep them fully transparent. Since joining the program, she has found new ways to save time and has redirected that time and energy toward raising money, winning more grants, and growing her programmatic impact.
“When I started the organization, my biggest concern was the numbers. How to manage the books and keep them accordingly so there’s complete transparency. I’ve had so many eye opening experiences since joining the course. The course opened my eyes to see things that I was not doing, things that can help me save time so I can put that time and energy towards raising money and getting more grants. The finances are key. When I go to bed at night, I feel so good about the work I’ve been able to do.”
